Areas of Practice
We’ll Defend your Constitutional Rights
The Law Office of Michael J. Monaco defends individuals accused of crimes in state and federal court. Certain cases, such as murder, reckless homicide, felony theft, fraud, robbery, and burglary cases are successfully litigated at bench or jury trials. Other types of cases, such as controlled substance and weapons offenses often involve the litigation of pretrial motions based on Fourth Amendment issues.
Whether police obtained evidence from your home or business after executing a search warrant, or from your vehicle after a traffic stop, every person has a Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures. Our office has proven success in Fourth Amendment search and seizure litigation. Michael and William keep current on changes in search and seizure law in order to effectively represent their clients and their Fourth Amendment rights.
State Criminal Cases
We represent defendants in state cases throughout the State of Illinois, primarily in Cook County and the Collar Counties. The majority of our clients are charged with serious felony offenses. These include aggravated battery, burglary, robbery, theft, fraud, controlled substance and firearms offenses, murder, and reckless homicides.
Federal Criminal Cases
Defending a federal criminal case requires a different skill set and expertise than a state criminal case. Michael and William have decades of experience representing clients in federal court from the initial detention hearing through trial and sentencing. Our office can handle any type of federal criminal case, from white collar offenses like mail and wire fraud, to drug and weapon offenses.
